Readers may be interested in this letter I have sent to the NRA
Chairman, following another which left some questions unanswered.

If I receive a reply, I will let you all know.

Dear Mr. de Havilland

Re: Charity Commission Enquiry

I refer to your reply, dated December 17, to my letter
concerning the above.

It answers several questions I did not ask and does not
answer any that I did ask.

I cannot tell you who, if anybody, wrote to the Charity
Commission. Since my ejection from the platform during the
1997 Bisley General Meeting, I have taken little active part
in the Association's affairs, preferring to return to my
shooting which I had neglected somewhat during my eighteen
years on the Council.

However, I have been increasingly concerned, as an ordinary
member, at the flood of rumours permeating the shooting workd,
and Bisley.

Hence my questions to you on December 19th, which I would now
like answered, and which, for the sake of clarity, I repeat
below (and copy to a few shooting friends):

Please furnish me with the following information:

1. the list of questions (18 in number?) from the Charity
Commission, received in the Spring

2. the draft answers circulated to Council members

3. the final answers submitted to the Charity Commission

4. the second list of questions received in July of 2000

5. the draft answers circulated to Council members

6. the final answers submitted to the Charity Commission

It appears that many important matters have been kept from
the general membership of the Association, and most Council
members have felt too intimidated to ask obvious, and pressing,
questions.

The late David Goodall, among many others, frequently bemoaned
the secrecy with which the NRA was run. What would he think now?

Please answer my answers without further obfuscation and, as
requested, post your answers on the Association's website.
