The record of recent Govts and this one in particular do not show a level of
responsibility and objectiveness that should be allowed anywhere near such
powers. Recently we have seen the second chamber tampered with and no proper
checks put in place on the Commons. This is just one constitutional example
of many that show contempt towards the people of this country. It might even
be that this Smart/ID card system is something required by Europe where ID
systems are commonplace and "digital Govt" is a big agenda. On past
performance this Govt just quietly goes along with it until it becomes
inevitable what it really is and difficult for us to change it.
