Anybody got any comment on the fact the chappie firing a pistol in the
immediate vicinity of the White House was apparently disabled by a single
shot from a Secret Service agent aimed at his knee? I'm just comparing it
with the British police practice of apparently riddling people with bullets
for carrying table legs and messing about with air rifles.

Well they didn't "riddle" Harry Standley, he was shot twice, once in
the hand and once in the head.

Having witnessed the Secret Service practicing I have to wonder whether
that was intentional. Possibly he was aiming for centre mass and
pulled low. The guys I watched couldn't hit steel plates five yards
away, and given that it's dangerous to even attempt that also reflects
on their training methods.

Steve.
