Is it just me or does anyone else see this whole idea as much the same as
putting a high tech alarm and satellite tracking on a horse and cart.

If these are fitted there is going to be a whole new field of criminal
endeavour in de-chipping or re-chipping these weapons. But then why bother
as there are going to be so many old style weapons available for at least
the rest of my lifetime and probably much longer.

Until they release a Star Trek Phaser for about 500 quid any idea of fitting
computerised locking or signature devices to hand held weapons will remain a
joke.

If Clinton could get his bugle out of the voters collective backside for a
few minutes he may just realise this but then when did a politician ever
admit fault.

The whole idea will go straight in the bin the day a government bodyguard
fails to protect his charge because a two cent part or one line of code wasn't
quite up to the job.

BTW, hands up anyone who's owned a 100% reliable weapon.
