The caption under her name described her as
an Education Consultant whatever one of those is. The
propietor of the Coach & Horses in Norwich describes
himself as a drinking consultant with rather more honesty.
        Gill Marshall-Andews peddles ignorance and
prejudice, she is an insult to the word education. However,
what did impressed me about her was her silly hat. Anyone
who lives in a hole and wears a silly hat patently has Hobbit
tendencies. Anybody notice if she has furry feet?

Someone rather aptly described the recent anti-gun
legislation as a placebo. Placebo Politics has a certain ring to.
It rather sums up a lot of what goes on at the moment.
Incidentally, did anyone else enjoy Tony's reception
at the WI as much as I did?
        [...]

And it answers a very lot of questions.
It has been a rather slow realization for me to
understand what has been the telltale sign of 'actors' in office.
Some people are natural leaders, the rest are actors.
Natural leaders don't need excuses, or diversions
to cover-up for them; what deeds they accomplish are
self-evident of their character, on their own.

Actors, on the other hand, need to put on a show.
Their cannot survive without a production.
They need a chorus line, back-up singers, and a
multitude of diversionary tactics for the inevitable faux pas that
will arise, either from the exposure of past indiscretions, or more
recent ones. Everybody loves a good show, because 'that's
entertainment'.

Consider that at one time, actors were considered to
be the dregs of 'society', so lowly held that it would have been
a ludicrous proposition for any to be taken seriously.

Well, that is just what we are putting into office: a
pack of entertainers: Liars, cheats, deceivers, cheap thrills, and
poor excuses for the Real Thing (tm).
The people have been putting the best performer into
office, not the most qualified candidate. Put on a good show,
excite (and titillate) the ladies, and be sure to toss promises to
the crowds that are supremely grandiose, appear to be everything
to everyone, and you're virtually assured to get elected by the
people.
This is the character of the mind of the people who
put Mr. Blair, and Mrs. Clinton (along with her husband) into
office. It is the character of the mind of the people who listen to
the likes of Ms. Marshall-Andews. If you can impress visually, and
manage to appeal to the soft mushy core of people who have no
real intestinal fortitude, intellectual standard, or moral compass
that points to truth, justice, and sincerity, then you too can be the
leader of people willing to be lead in whatever direction you'd
care to wander. And wander you will, all over the moral compass.
If you can manage to reflect the pseudo-ideals of a
pretend leader, then you, too, can achieve success, as has the
leader of your anti-gun cult. The liberal application of emotionalism
surely helps. Just be sure to drag along some dead children for
effect. Remember: A really bad lie is like a table cloth; if it is big
enough, no one will see even the legs of the terrible truth.

I honestly believe that if an actor were to put on a
sustained powerful performance over a period of months before
an observing audience (in this day and age, that amounts to
almost every citizen who possesses a TV set) and under the
right circumstance, he or she could be elected to public office -
lacking any real credibility to evince a knowledge of the task,
based only on their ability to entertain. Give them some credible
words to utter, a policy to behold, have them appear at the right
places at the right times and say the right things, and you have
realized your dream.

Front men (and women) to an agenda. The backers
are packing sledge hammers, and have no personality that would
foster the necessary intellectual and visual appeal to achieve
office - not that such should be needed. The sledge hammers
are their tool of policy: they can't wait to hammer it into you; they
just need a pretty face and a willing victim to come together.
        Form over substance.

We, our respective nations, have spent our time in
the wilderness. I think it is time to elect leaders like Moses, to
lead us out, or at least an appreciable distance away from the abyss.

they're never going to keep me down!"
