From: "Alex Hamilton", [EMAIL PROTECTED] I think that the suggestion that armoured vehicles could be used to transport markers "under fire" to Stickledown butts is on par with allowing the public to exercise their dogs in danger areas, provided both owners and animals wear bullet-proof jackets!! The mere thought of an APC transporting markers with bullets "pinging" off its armour plating creates a terrible impression! Come on boys! Are we serious, responsible target shooters or just a bunch of overgrown schoolboys looking for cheap thrill? I was shooting in America Match on Melville during the Phoenix 2000 meeting when the RCO stopped the match so that markers could walk to the butts on Stickledown. STOPPED ALL SHOOTING ON MELVILLE FOR NEARLY HALF AN HOUR!!!! I did not ask what markers were doing going to the butts after 9.00 hrs. when they should have been there at 8.30 hrs., but I can tell you that having this break in the middle of the "heat" did not do anything for my subsequent scores! This problem has been with us so long that, leaving aside impractical suggestions, it is high time that the NRA constructed a safe passage to and from the butts on Stickledown to enable shooters marking for their clubs to interchange whilst shooting is in progress and especially to be able to revert to the previous shooting time starting at 9.00 hrs.
