I think it is true that Pearston lived for a short time at Dunblane, and
there are still people there who were glad to see the back of her
ill-disciplined children. However I am pretty sure that at the time of the
shootings she had left, and the last I heard she lives at Sauchie, the other
side of Stirling from Dunblane.
Is it Pearston perpetuating this story, or reporter types?

Yes, I thought it a bit strange to say she only lived a few
minutes away, a bit further than that. Most people today
still think one of her kids got shot there or something.
Just goes to show how far most people thought about banning
handguns.
