Niel,

You are refusing to consider the point, that breaking into someone's home is
ITSELF a violent and illegal act.

Uninvited intruders INSIDE YOUR PROPERTY, in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, only
leaves undecided the intended scale of their assault on you. As such, you
have to consider the very worst is intended to be done to you and yours, and
you don't have very much time to reach any sort of coherent decisions.

Whether or not there was a court case, these circumstances actually happened
to Tony Martin. You cannot deny that, no matter how much you squirm and try
and avoid the issue. The vast majority of people have grasped those facts
pretty quickly, and can visualise the circumstances, and how it would apply
to them in general. That is why the vast majority of people are scandalised
at the conviction of Tony Martin. They understand it, why can't you? Also,
you have to accept that life and humanity started long before your birth,
and these have been ongoing issues for millenia. Yes, it comes down to self
defence. Yes, it comes down to Natural Law. Because the First Law of Nature
is the Right of Self Defence - something no Society can legitimately deny
its citizens.

I am sorry you cannot understand this, but it might be of some assistance if
you even tried. You have to face an uncomfortable fact - you can not rely on
anybody coming to your assistance, when you are in dire straights and are
the victim of a hot burglary. Hot burglary is itself a display of complete
contempt and disregard for the intended victim - can you appreciate that?
Actually breaking into someones home, whilst knowing that the householder is
home! It is an attitude towards other people, that is completely outrageous
and unacceptable to Society - it ALWAYS has been, and it ALWAYS will be.
Phoning the Police is not going to help you, in the vast majority of cases -
by the time they arrive, you and your family could well be dead or severely
injured, and have become yet another statistic. The Police are not your
guardians, or personal bodyguards, no matter how much that pretence is
propagandised, and no matter how much you would like that to be so.

Personally, I do not know anyone that is volunteering to become a crime
statistic, as a victim of crime. Are you? Is the concept and practicality of
preventive deterrence completely lost on you? Sad to say, imho it is the
attitude of people like you, seemingly confident in Society's ability to
wrap them in a cotton-wool isolation from the realities of life, from the
cradle to the grave, and prepared to spread dangerous illusions and
preconceptions to the public at large, that have placed us in this
disagreeable and escalating situation in the first place! You seem to have
no regard for the vast numbers of victims, that suffer on a daily basis; the
women that are raped, the householders physically assaulted, the weak and
defenceless battered into submission despite offering no resistance, because
they are at the mercy of the cruel and depraved in our Society. You seem
intent on making life easier for the cruel and depraved Neil, not making
life easier for their intended victims. Just what is your problem?

Trotting out that nonsense about innocent people being "blasted", simply for
knocking on someone's door, or driving into someone's farmyard, does you
little credit. It is just an evasion of the issue, and "members of the
public" have far more sense and decency than you seem capable of crediting
them with, so stop it. Members of this list are members of Society, and have
a legitimate interest in living at peace with their neighbours. They would
also like to live in a Society where that is possible.

Perhaps you are just subscribed to the wrong list?

Bob
