So the poor old Police, so short of men and starved of resources that little
irritants like burglary or car theft really cannot justify much attention,
will find the manpower to pore over old RFD records in the hope of finding
some technical mistake with which to crucify someone.

Really I would like to hear what he has to say about it. The press story
was quite damning but then they always are. On the other hand the Queen
doesn't hand out knighthoods to criminals generally.
As I recall the police were concerned that he had lost track of several
Rhodesian LDP SMGs in his stock, I remember thinking they were probably
pre-1988 deacts from the description in the article.
I don't have a problem with the police investigating what has happened
to Section 5 weapons due to sloppy record keeping, but on the other I
don't think Sir Malcolm should be hung out to dry either, as I doubt that
he personally was the one keeping the records.
Steve.
