I was interested in what would transpire from this thread and so have not
responded but simply read the few responses.

I imagine there will be no trembling knees in Whitehall with the response.

Whether the 3rd march got 15,000 or 20,000 it didn't make any difference.
Steve's suggestion of another march is fine, I'll go, but it'll achieve not
very much, perhaps a few seconds on the media for us with a few minutes for
the anti's to wail and knash their teeth.

If you as individuals think it's worth it, paint some placards or dress up a
trailer or something and go and stand outside Tory Central Office in
Whitehall, or Millbank (New Labour) or House of Commons. There's just as
much chance of a photo in the press as from a 5,000 strong march; ring the
newsdesks of the papers before you go. Don't be disappointed when no
photographer turns up. You're not making waves that will make people onshore
wet and wake up, you're sticking your toe in again and again to make ripples
that erode those men of sand who are between them and us.

More importantly, make the slogans nasty and pithy and hurtful to those
inside (they truly do not like it and do not like being reminded of their
actions especially when doubt can be cast upon them by innocents, which is
what we are.)

Have handout sheets with you with soundbite quotes pointing out the reality
of the situation and some figures with references to back them up. Save any
interested reporter having to write things down. (A page suggestion for the
cybershooters website perhaps?)

Don't be surprised when no reporters show up.

Do it in your home town outside the town hall. Don't expect any thanks for
it and only derision from the local press probably, but have faith in your
fellow human beings, many, more than enough, know a stitch up when they see
one even though at the time of the legislation they didn't care to do
anything. If you think your rights are worth fighting for, do it.

It's very difficult to stand with people staring at you while you are alone
or in a small group. It truly is hard to be on your own, but anymore than a
single person can tend to chat together as a nervous reaction and for
reassurance (people are staring at you after all) and therefore the
passer-by does not feel privy to or empathy with the protest. If you go as 2
or more, stand apart, you'll feel a little more alone but separated will be
more approachable by anyone who wishes to. Even those who disagree with our
aims often realise how hard it is to be alone in public doing something that
not many would agree with. That means something to them. Not a lot, but more
than before you got up and protested. As a well-presented upright figure you
give them a different hook to hang the image of a pistol shooter on. If
there's only a few of you, you're not easy to describe as a gun lobby
either.

Do it whenever you can. e-mail me, I'll go along if in London.

Take a camera and a tape recorder. Hide the tape recorder mike and tape any
chat you have with anyone official. One of the best quotes I heard was from
a old duffer who was sent out from Tory Central Office when I did my bit out
there but I didn't record it or get his name. (Actually, something pithy on
a placard about Seb Coe would go down well there I should think.)

Do not go away. Even if you personally are not angry enough or do not have
the nerve to do something, post this on the club noticeboard, some else
might. Posting it might be you doing your bit.

We must remain seen or we will sink and disappear. Do not wait for some one
else to do something. Reading cybershooters is not enough.

Gallery rifle sucks. I want to shot my 1911A1's in Police, Service,
Centrefire and Practical again. I want a sport in which we can beat the
Germans occasionally ;-) Heinrich

Until the JFS comes to the courts we're nowhere (quite possibly afterwards
to.)

Three people driving abreast on the motorway is fine at 7:30 in the morning
but to start with that might be too much.

Handcuff yourself to a railing in Whitehall (get a picture and send it to
Firearms News or Target Gun. (I hate the new title)

Slogans, banners? You can do better than me I imagine.

Do not be nice. Do not be defamatory, inference is fine. Remember, we know
how guilt by association works only to well.

If you think the electioneering was to blame most highlight new and old
labour values.

eg. Old Labour - Kinnock (when leader) "I'd rather 9 guilty men go free
than 1 innocent man punished"
New Labour - Blair would rather punish 50,000 innocents and promote and
pension off the guilty elite.

"Hamilton: A paedophile on his own would be just a masturbator. Where are
the others? Who is hiding them? Why?"

Good one for Millbank, this.

If you think Freemasonry is implicated; "Dunblane, the shame of British
Freemasonry."

If it's reasoned argument: Before banning pistols the police knew who had
them and did nothing - now they simply know nothing (they prefer it that
way.)

If the pistol ban wasn't to punish the innocent, how come the Government
passed a law that will put me in jail for ten years?

Put a pro-shooting WWW address on the handout or placard.

Facts and numbers? Steve's the man I guess to provide access to those.

Doing nothing is the pits. What are they going to do? Take your pistols
away?

--
Possibly combining it with a lot of other not so PC issues such as
the RIP bill and FOI bill and so on might be an idea.

Or starting our own political party as the tories are totally useless
and have no imagination whatsoever. A lot of people seem cheesed off
with the establishment and the loss of civil liberties generally.

Steve.
