"I can assure everyone that many magistrates get very frustrated because
they are unable to take what they consider to be appropriate action, but the
law of the land must be obeyed or we descend into anarchy, and Magistrates
take an oath to uphold the law of the land without fear or favour, treating
all people equally. I reiterate that if you want the law changed, speak to
your MP and hope that he or she is capable of hearing and understanding your
point, AND willing to do something about it.

Or better still nominate a sound minded individual for magistrate yourself,
that way we fill the benches with pro-shooting compatriots.

I understand the gist of what is being said but I have been to Crown Court
on two occasions now and on the second occasion I am certain I lost because
one of the magistrates simply didn't like guns. If magistrates were simply
following the law as written and the judge was ruling objectively I would
have won, but one of the magistrates sat there half the time shaking his
head which did not indicate to me he was making a dispassionate judgement
of the facts of the case.
Steve.
