Canada Supreme Court upholds gun law
By Randall Palmer
OTTAWA, June 15 (Reuters) -

        ...
"While ordinary guns are often used for lawful purposes,
they are also used for crime and suicide, and cause
accidental death and injury," the court said in its decision.

"All guns are capable of killing and maiming. It follows that all
guns are a threat to public safety. As such, their control falls
within the criminal law power."
        [...]

You just have to wonder what pipe they were
sucking on.

        So, let's see.
"While ordinary guns are often used for lawful
purposes, they are also used for crime and suicide, and cause
accidental death and injury."

        What about automotive contrivances?
Or, for that matter, what of anything which as an
aspect of misuse, are also "used for crime and suicide, and
cause accidental death and injury."

It goes without saying - but I'll say it anyway -
that when the limits of liberty are described by the acts of
madmen, then only madmen shall have liberty, for it is only
they whom have the temerity to take what has been denied
the rest of us.

It remains for the Canadians to ponder the deeper
ramifications of that decision, as the CSC has obviously taken
the tack that government may deprive the citizens of their
liberty, by mere fiat of whomever happen to own the government
at the moment.
When liberty is defined not by solid premise, but
the shifting grounds of political fortune, the there is no such
thing as liberty, and nothing more than mere privilege.
The CSC should be ashamed of itself for that decision.
        They are sowing the wind.
