Here's the email I sent out Monday about the ride. We really need to be there and show a good support for this ride! You may not think about it but the people in our local government really does look at this and the participation level. Also, please remember, the speed limit is 12 mph and no higher! The ride will follow the map that was sent out before...basically, start at Starbucks to the court house around a couple blocks and back up Nash to the Starbucks. I'm hoping we can have a group at least as large as we had last year. Expect to see anything from kids bikes to high end roadies ( and yes, I'll be on my mtb) See you out there! --Kevin
Denise Boswell will be at Starbucks starting at 6:00. She will be registering bikes up until the ride starts. After the ride, go on downtown and see the group Spare Change perform at Downtown Alive! I hope that you will all be able to make it to the Ride Of Silence (ROS) this Wednesday at 7:00. It is being co-sponsored between the COWs and the City of Wilson. This will be a great way of getting the word out about bicycles and the need to drive safely around them. The ride will start at the old Starbucks on Nash/Ward. The Wilson Police Dept. will be providing police cars for escorts again this year. They are also working on having a bicycle safety presentation just prior to the ride so you might want to come a little earlier for that. Make sure to thank them when you see them. Let's all show our support for the ROS!
