That's fantastic!  What, no snakes, no dogs, no herding cows?  What kept your
interest?  kp

Subject: [COWs] Double Century!!!

What an awesome day to attempt a 200 mile bike ride!  First off, Doc starts the
day with a convenience store biscuit and then leads the 33 member peloton for
about the first hour.  I was impressed.  Jim and I took our turn out front, but
my Honey Smacks gave out after about 7 minutes.  The first 65 mile loop was
loosely organized with a couple of near crashes as everyone was getting use to
the double pace line.  The second 55 mile loop started out with a strong head
wind and the double pace line was much more efficient and things got down to
business.  No mishaps and no real interesting stories throughout the ride.
With the double pace line you got to meet and chat with everyone throughout the
day.  Jim did a great job promoting the Whirligig ride.  I heard him give the
spill to at least a dozen riders.  The 4th and final loop began at mile 165.  A
lot of conversations were getting silly and made no sense.  Out of 40 total
riders throughout
the day the first flat tire came at mile 185, another at mile 190.
It actually rained the last 10 miles.  Again it was the perfect day for such an
event.  19 riders began the day with intentions of doing all 200 miles.  19
riders completed their mission, including 4 ladies.  9 of the riders, including
myself completed their first 200 mile day.  This was Goldsboro's 7th annual
event and their their most successful and they declared it their best club ride
ever.  My helmets off to the Seyboro group as they were first class all the
way.  Side note, I calculated that I consumed 45,330% of the recommended daily
allowance of Vitamin B-12 today.  Is that illegal?
