As you may have heard, we had an interesting morning. Richard, Tim, Cliff and I were riding on West Mount and somehow a cable tv cable was hanging down and caught Richard in the handlebars. I hit him from behind and according to Tim, I went over the bars and slid along. Tim managed to miss me and come to a stop. Unfortunately, the cable seems to have either been attached to or became entangled in a mail box. The force of the impact broke the mailbox pole and spun the mailbox into the road directly in front of Cliff. The impact sheared his front forks off about 4 inches from the head tube and sent him over the bars. He is currently in Nash General ER. He has several areas that are being stitched and as he landed on his neck/head, they have taken precautionary Xrays and CT scans. He is very sore and we are awaiting the results of the different scans. I will let everyone know how things progress as I get information. For now, I can say that we were all pretty lucky as it probably could have been worse. We had plenty of people stop to offer help and one man drove Tim back to get a car to transport Cliff to the hospital. Thanks to everyone in the second riding group for all your help also.
