It would have been just as appropriate and welcomed for a cyclist to call and rant about dangerous motorists. Either way the mood is kept light for a reason, it is satire. Another caller suggested that the women who pimped out her 5 year old daughter for drugs be forcible castrated. Did you call the police? My point being that several cyclist called or emailed during the show and we aired their disagreement while they also continued to keep the mood light but provide a rebuttal. While I appreciate your interest in what we should be allowed to air, ultimately cyclist, including myself I might add, are not more endangered as a result of our program. My understanding also is that the hosts (at least the female host) of the program seemed to be in agreement with the caller and stated that she (host) couldn't stand cyclists and further stated that the road is for cars. The hosts (male and female) were laughing along with the caller as if they thought the idea is funny. As a cyclist, I am aware of how dangerous it is to ride when there are drivers on the road who don't know that cyclists have the same right to be on the roads as automobiles and must abide by the same laws as drivers. Everyone at station 106.1 needs to be made aware of this right. It is sickening to hear that your station seems to promote such ruthlessness. Such comments aired might be taken seriously by some people who are subject to road rage and who are also ignorant of the law. What if the cyclist happens to be your son or daughter or other relative? In my opinion, station 106.1 should air an apology to all bicyclists and suggest that your listeners become aware of the law regarding cyclists rights.
