Our bicycle club in Wilson is made up of ministers, architects, civil engineers, lawyers, physicians, school principals, teachers, accountants, and many other individuals who are in a minority of people who have the self discipline to maintain their health. Defending the use of the n word, or of individuals who enjoy taking shots from their AR-15 rifles at motorists from interstate bridges, or of the rage or pleasure of child molesters, or of hate crimes, or of torture, or of any other human behavior which would intentionally hurt or injure innocent individuals is reprehensible and irresponsible. This defense is certainly below the professional standard in the broadcast industry. Your program, and your defense of this program should have the opportunity to be have a wider discussion in the regional newspapers, and of the FCC. Your sponsors need to have the opportunity to assess your opinions regarding the legitimacy of expressing rage toward innocent people. When on my bicycle, hitting a rock on the road, or being moved to the side 12-18 inches by a sudden gust of crosswind could be fatal when an enraged driver is trying to dust me off the road. Bicycles have the same rights as any other vehicle in the eye of the law. These same individuals may get irritated at a large semi tractor-trailer rig, but they would not consider trying to force them off the road. Your uncivilized approach and your defense of this issue will certainly need to receive a larger discussion and review. Society will be a better place when these attitudes are not allowed to have a public broadcast. You certainly owe the bicycling community an apology, and the public an explanation of your acceptance of intolerable behavior.
