The start of today's stage was delayed due to the teams decision to wear

Armstrong's Livestrong program. All the jerseys has the number 28 on them to
signify the 28 million people world wide who are suffering form cancer. The
officials would have none of it. After some debate, the team was allowed to
wear them to start but had to change as soon as they got out of the

Today saw no real surprises. Fabian Cancellara won the Time Trail today
finishing 17 seconds ahead of Tony Martin (watch for this rivalry to bloom over
the next few years whenever these two are in a TT). Overall Alberto Contador
increased his margin over Andy Scheck to 0:31. A bit too much for Andy to
overcome on the ride to Paris son this one is all but done. This will be
Alberto's second Yellow jersey in a row. As for third place, Denis Menchov
solidified his claim on the 3rd podium spot by riding to a 1:39 lead over
Samuel Sanchez after today's TT.

In retrospect, Ablerto was the favorite from the beginning and came through.
He clearly managed his way to this win as had he not been more careful he could
have easily lost to Andy. Race smarts won this one for him. As a side note,
the margin that Alberto currently enjoys over Andy is the exact margin that
Alberto took when Andy lost his chain and Alberto rode on, even thought I think
Alberto really had no choice.

So the ride into Paris should be the typical parade (yawn) until we get to the
final sprint to the end. At that point this one will be all out, go for broke.
Alessandro Petacchi has 213 pts, Thor Hushovd has 203 and Mark Cavendish has
197. This is a "big splash" finish, the kind that Cavendish and Columbia have
done so well over the past two years. Look for them to once again pull to the
front and win the bunch sprint. Thor needs the help of his team but not sure
he will get it, they have been noticeably absent in these situations so far.
Alessandro will not be able to hide in the shadows but he should be able to do
well enough to keep green in the end.

We shall see...
