Two days of great riding weather I see that no one posted anything for Sat's ride, so maybe my memory will serve me correctly. A small group headed out (Tim S. Nick, Jim, Bob L., Wally, me, and a visiting rider Andy D. from Richmond). We head out toward 97 & 231 way rolling at a leisurely 20 mph or so not being sure what pace Andy typically rode (tho based on what he said about his Richmond group we figured he would fit right in.) Everyone was feeling good and the pace crept up to 21-22 all the while rotating thru pulls. Andy takes his pull at 22, we are all thinking our presumptions were correct. Due to time constraints, Jim, Wally, and Nick turn off 97 at 581 while the remainder of us continue on to 231. Bob L. is riding strong as well. We continue at the same pace except for some of the larger rolls on that part of the route. Came back in by way of Stony Hill Ch Rd to 58 for roughly 40 miles I think. SH was a blast as we didn't drop below 24 and held 27 for a majority of the road (after crossing 581). We finished with a 21+ average.
Sunday had a larger group: Nick, DC, Bob L, Alan, Steve T, Dale, me and a new guy - John. Headed to Lucama by way of Hornes Ch. Rd. Moderate pacing at 20 - 21 with crosswinds. Dale has a mechanical issue on Lamm and decides to head back. We all continue on rotating pulls thru Lucama. The pace picks up on Blalock with DC pulling and tailwind but no "games" yet. Work our way back to 42 to take airport rd back in and from Wilson Christian School it was on as "col de Target" was ahead. Speeds hit 32 - 33 mph with Nick leading out. DC takes off just after the tracks and I follow a second or two later, too late to catch him before the hill. We take the hill at 25 - 27?, Alan catches me just as we crest the hill with the others not far behind. Fun was had by all.
