First, I'll have to survive a 1200K in Texas in May. I originally wanted to do the 1200K Paris ride this summer as I'm already qualified and assured a spot but my funds are not there as business is still very slow, hence lots of miles on the bike. I can do the Alaska ride for half the cost of Paris so that is now my plan plus I like less people and more wilderness aspect. We'd fly to Anchorage, take a train and a ferry to Valdez. Start cycling northeast to Tok, west to Delta Junction, over to Fairbanks, then south through Denali National Park, then on to Anchorage to finish. 750 miles through bear and moose country. Even if you can cycle the distance you have to survive the bears. Bear attack spray highly recommended. I like the added twist! Funds may also come up short there as well but I'm registered and hoping!
