2,500+ riders. all ages, sizes, skill levels. Started 8:00.

got with lead out group across the bridge and rolled with them at 26+ for 25
miles or so until i could no longer ignore natures call. Rolled solo from #3
rest stop anywhere from 20 - 23 and fell in with a solid group. Oops! dropped
cell phone reaching for food in pocket. So much for that group. Rode solo for
the next 20 miles or so to lunch stop. ate quick and back on the road - solo.
caught up with a small good group of 4 (with me) we stayed together for the
next 30 miles or so. One dropped off due to the blustery SW wind. We were still
able to maintain 19-21 tho. at mile 80 memories of the BSG came back to haunt
when I started feeling a "bump" with the rear tire. after a couple of miles we
stop and the tire was bulged. checked the tube. (another story in itself with
the SAG guy and floor pump he had). Tube fine but replace anyway. Two of the 4
headed on leaving me and Tom (57 year-old former racer). Stopped at last stop
at 90 and swapped out tire on advice of tech guy. by then it was down to me and
Tom and his legs were maxing out so we kept it around 21 or so the last ten
miles.

Saw Ken Keeter at the start (we're on the same "team", never saw Big Bob,
didn't see either on the road). Great ride - Avg 20.87.'

Another 100 tomorrow. Coming back into the wind...
