O yeah, I forgot to ad that was 6,000 feet of climbs.  Not bad for the fat
guy!  Numbers, numbers, numbers!

Subject: [COWs] Siler City 200K Ride Report!

John o. and I drive to Morrisville and meet up with about 30 riders for a 200K
(125 mile) ride to Siler City and back.  Social pace to start until Jordan Lake
where the hills start around mile 20.  A few miles later John and I hanging out
with about 12 riders out front.  A few miles later and 8 are left in the lead
group.  John is smart, taking it easy because we're riding another 200K
tomorrow.  My ego want let me take it easy and I'm feeling really good after a
few rest days this week.  The pace is still sane all the way to Siler City and
I'm having a blast.  Temps are perfect and the wind is taking it easy on us.
At Siler City, the first 100K we're averaging 18mph but I know some guys out
front are itching for more than this wine and cheese pace.  Sure enough
they blister it up a few hills coming back.  I get dropped several times but
keep catching up on the downhill's.  Finally we get a long flat section with a
tail wind and it's play
time!  Around mile 75 I ramp it up to 28/30mph and split the group.  3 others
stay with me and soon the rest are out of sight.  About 20 miles later we're
down to a group of three.  We have a climber, a navigator and I take the flats
and downhill's and we manage to stay away and bring it home in a little over 6
and a half hours of ride time averaging 18.7 mph.  It was a really nice day to
ride, I just hope I saved enough to do this again tomorrow!  Time for some
recovery drinks.
