John o. and I joined 20+ other riders in downtown Raleigh Sat. morning for our annual end of season ride and party at Natty Greenes Pub. Our ride started at 7am and 28 degrees. We headed for Benson and parts south of there. Down to Benson it was one big rolling party. From there John and I struck out with Tom and Mary from Lumberton and a couple others as we had the first breakaway. At the turnaround we were down to 4 and we stayed out front for the rest of the ride. Later we found out there was a big crash in the peloton so we were glad that we stayed clear. Back at the pub around 4:00 after 125 miles on the bike. The club had reserved a room and John and I had the best seats in the house at the bar. John and I were 2 of 5 people in N.C. to receive a k-hound trophy from the Lone Star club in Texas for exceeding 10,000 kilometers in RUSA events this year. Not only that but we were !st and 2nd. We had a blast at the party remembering big rides this year and making plans for big events next year. For now we are tapering off the long rides for a while.
