Wow, what a day for a loooong bike ride! When tim gets experimental on a bike route, pack your bags baby! Jim, KP and Steve Brake joined me on one such event. A nice easy cruise through Nashville up by Taylor's Gin, to Essex and on to Medoc Mountain State Park. Things were going swell. Decided to check out some new roads coming back. It was a very cool route until I made a wrong turn. A quick downhill, then Steve pulled us uphill for a good mile when I realized we were going the wrong way. Instead of erasing that tremendous effort put out by Steve on the climb I decided to keep going and wing it. Bad thing was that the next intersection was another 3 miles in the wrong direction. Beautiful day for a couple extra miles. Turned right heading back when that road also decided to head the wrong way. Eventually we popped out of the forest and headed back to Nashville. I was trying to decided which of my pals was going to lynch me and stay clear. I tried to pull all of the bonus miles but finally gave out. Jim towed us home after that. Anyway, my 55 mile route ended up being 65 miles, averaging almost 19mph. I don't think it was intentional but I do have a reputation. It was a great ride, and I enjoyed the company. Kp had pre-made sandwiches and passed them around at the finish and all those extra miles were soon forgotten, I hope. Thanks, KP! Another epic ride. I'm sure we'll joke about it later!
