Subject: Re: [COWs] Sat ride time

BG members, Dave, Steve and James left Cloverdale at 8:01 am. Temp, weather,
and wind was very pleasant as we headed out on 58 to Packhouse, Bloomery, Horns
Ch., Stony Hill out towards the hills of western Wilson, Nash, Johnson
counties. Hardees in Bailey was our breakfast/refueling stop. After
discussion about our continuing trek, I decided to minimize chances of cramps
by adding Pedialyte to my second water bottle as I knew the hills and fast pace
was coming. A slight headwind began to as we heated toward Connor hill. Then,
WOW, Wheeeeeeee, Whee, Wheeeee and Steve takes the green jersey at a top speed
of 37.2 (what was in that biscuit he ate). After many hills and turns (don't
remember the road names), getting lost a couple of times, but finally finding
our way back to Sandy Hill Church Rd, over to Old Smithfield. By then the
tailwind had picked up a bit and Dave pulls us back to Hornes Ch Rd in record
time. Steve needed to be home by 11, but with 50+ miles in everyone was still
strong and the tailwind was so much fun, we crossed Hornes to keep the tailwind
a while longer. At some point several dogs ran out to chase us, but when they
saw who it was and how fast we were riding, the dogs gave up and turned back.
A great ride, 24.3 mph for 67.2 mi. and Steve made it back before 11. And I
never did cramp.

2 or 3 riding at 8:00 from Cloverdale.

Susan doing Heart Walk, may ride with Jennifer early afternoon.

I'm knocking down a little 190 mile practice ride from Morrisville to Seagrove
and back.
