Subject: [COWs] Tues 6am ride

I plan to ride tomorrow morning from DD at 6. I'll do whatever route and pace
but I will turn off at some point and keep riding for between 30-40. Others
welcome to join me for the extra miles.
Please post if you plan to join me at 6?

Well...Dan Decker and I didn't climb like a goat up Snake Mountain in BSG like
Steven and Ronnie (awesome job guys!) , or ride 1200K like Tim (I had to google
it cause I couldn't do the math in my head "1200 Kilometers = 745.645431 miles"
= UNBELIEVABLE!!), or compete in an Ironman like Kinnie (my idol - you ROCK!),
or tour around upstate SC for 64 miles with old friends for a great cause like
Bob (sounds like you had a good time and a great ride!)....but we did compete
in a little triathlon in Wake Forest yesterday called the "Smile Train
Triathlon".
Event got started with the releasing of the doves (no, I'm not kidding, they
were real white doves). Dan had a great swim - gently passed the 12 year old
who started in front of him - and that's the last I saw of Dan. The pool at
Heritage is great, FS Series did an awesome job with the staggered swim start
and the bike course was a lot of fun. Lots of steep short climbs and enough
downhills to say "weeee" (inside my head, not out loud for anyone to hear me).
Dan told me that this is one of his favorite bike courses and I could see why
and would now have to agree with him. The run course on the other hand....not
so much. Those steep hills were no fun to run and the dark pavement got wavy
from the blistering heat quickly. Best part of the run were all the neighbors
watering their flowers and passing runners, and little kids with their
super-soaker water guns who loved for runners to approach and say "Okay. Bring
it!" I was drenched by the end of the run, including my shoes, and I was glad
when it was over and I could find some shade. Checked the stats and Dan and I
both finished top 10 in our age group (I'm not going to say who's older). Dan
finished 6th with a total time of 1:03 and I finished 9th with a total time of
1:15.
GREAT JOB to everyone who got out there and left a little sweat on a course
somewhere this weekend and came home with a sense of accomplishment!!
