Subject: Wednesday Morning Daybreak Ride
To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>

Left a little late this morning. Wasn't able to leave the house until 6:15..
Decided to change it up a bit and do some interval riding today. Set the watch
for 5 minute intervals of very nice, easy riding with 1:30 minutes of sprinting.

Took Hwy 58 to Clifftonville to Bend of the River and finally to Tar River
Church Road (or vice versa). Road out between 11 and 12 miles and turned
around and came back. Intervals were pretty nice. The nice, easy pace
intervals were welcomed compared to a 'normal' ride.

Total ride was 23.5 miles with an average pace of 18.5 mph. Plenty of wind
going out but was great coming back in.

I did have a little excitement on the way back in. As I was riding, I felt
'something' hit my chest (my jersey was unzipped half way down) but didn't
think much of it. About a minute later during one of my sprints, I felt
something bite or sting me. Not sure which but pulled my jersey up as quick as
I could to let 'it' out of there as fast as possible almost causing me to run
off the road. I never saw what it was but about an hour later, I found a nice
large red, swollen and itchy spot on my side (below rib cage).
