I took the new Damocles on it’s inaugural ride tonight with a lot of help from
DC and the Kaiser. I knew I was in trouble when DC said that he just wanted 20
miles at a nauseatingly slow pace. Then Kaiser brought his old bike saying it
was jealous since he hadn’t ridden it in a week. The Garmin report is
attached. 27 miles at 20.2 mph including my ride over to DD and home. The
main 20 miles had 5 mile lap averages of 21, 22, 21, and 21 mph. Team David
was pushing the pace during their pulls. Thanks guys...great way to break in
the new bike.

Team "Ridley"

We have a team now!

I'd rate my Damocles 5 stars on long rides.

Very well tested!

She will serve you well! Enjoy!

  Subject: [COWs] NEW BIKE!!!!

As Tim alluded to in the Thursday night ride report, I went in search of a
new steed today. My journey took me to Mock Orange Bicycles in Winston-Salem
as they were the closest Bianchi dealer I could find. The Bianchi Infinito,
the Ridley Noah RS and the Look 566 were on my list of test rides (and they
even had my size!). After a short discussion with Zach, the professional bike
guy, I started on the Infinito and expected to take one home (or at least order
it in Celeste). I then went out on a Ridley Damocles instead of the Noah
because Zach was convinced it would fit my style of riding better than the Noah
(yes, Mr. Lucas even mentioned it in our talks). I finished with the Look.
All were excellent rides so I had to decide on comfort, price and aesthetics.
I chose the Damocles because of it’s great reputation for long ridges and
because it was significantly cheaper than the Infinito with Ultegra components.
Plus he gave me a good deal since it was a 2012. I am attaching a picture,
but it’s maiden voyage in Wilson will be tonight. I’ll be leaving from DD at
5:30 if anyone wants to join me.
