Fellow riders, after not riding for several weeks, I recently went on an
afternoon solo ride on my favorite personally built-up bike. Unencumbered by
not having to remember all the pertinent facts necessary for a proper COWS ride
report, such as; route, weather, wind direction, hills climbed at a precise
grade percentage, number of pulls (or lack of) at a predetermined pace,
location and speed required to outrun a three legged dog, ounces consumed of
sports drink containing the overprescribed caffeine and electrolytes, time
lost to repair a flat impeded by cold & stiff fingers, maximum speed on a
cheating downhill, average speed and total miles, I happily lollygagged at an N
S pace. Just me and the bike, absorbed in my thoughts, allowing a problematic
world to silently glide by like fragile soap bubbles propelled by a whispering
wind, with now fading golden leaves of autumn desperately trying to paint a
prettier picture of images of my dreaming of glory long ago lost. Just one more
mind clearing ride.

Pete
