Subject: {coWs} Safety for bike riders

QUESTIONNAIRE:

1. Do you feel that the safety of bike riders in Wilson and surrounding
counties is getting (a) better, (b) about the same, (c) worse?

2. Indicate which of the following you have experienced:

a - physical assault while bike riding such as items being thrown at
you or others in your riding group
b - threats to physically injure you or other bike riders by words,
vehicle, or other object
c - driver intentionally forces or attempts to force you or another
biker off the street
d - driver intentionally passes at an unsafe distance
e - driver intentionally fails to yield to bike riders in order to
intimidate or intentionally injure bike riders
      f - list other

3. Do you feel that bicycle rider safety could be improved if Wilson/Wilson
County were to pass an ordinance that would make violators pay treble actual
damages with regard to each and every such violation, or $1,000.00,
whichever is greater and be liable for reasonable attorneys' fees and costs
of litigation?

I would appreciate your feedback. I will tally the responses to help me
identify how frequent and widespread our concerns are on biking safety.
This will help me determine whether or not to present this matter to the
Wilson Bike & Pedestrian Board or the City Council. Feel free to provide
additional thoughts or raise other questions you may have regarding bicycle
rider safety.

Cordially,

James R. Lamm
