socat 1.8.0.2-1 is now available in Cygwin. This release is... actually identical to the previous Cygwin release, 1.8.0.1-1. Oops.
The What's New section[1] and CHANGES file[2] for socat show that the only difference between versions 1.8.0.1 and 1.8.0.2 are a security fix to the example script readline.sh, which isn't included in the Cygwin packages. So those versions are identical in Cygwin. Sorry for the oversight in publishing the unnecessary update. socat is a relay for bidirectional data transfer between two independent data channels. Each channel may be a file, pipe, device (serial line etc. or a pseudo terminal), a socket (UNIX, IP4, IP6 - raw, UDP, TCP), an SSL socket, proxy CONNECT connection, a file descriptor (stdin etc.), the GNU line editor (readline), a program, or a combination of two of these. These modes include generation of 'listening' sockets, named pipes, and pseudo terminals. Andrew E.
