CHANGES
latest upstream 3.12.x release.
Test packaged for Cygwin (current is 3.9)

CYGWIN CHANGES
Only python 3.9 and 3.12 are updated.
Python 2, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 are not anymore supported upstream.

https://devguide.python.org/versions/#versions

The main packages include postinstall script that
use "alternatives" to define for

   /usr/bin/python

   /usr/bin/python3
   /usr/bin/idle3
   /usr/bin/pydoc3

a default to the highest package available.

$ alternatives --display python
python - status is auto.
 link currently points to /usr/bin/python3.12
/usr/bin/python3.9 - priority 39
/usr/bin/python3.12 - priority 312
Current `best' version is /usr/bin/python3.12.

Rationale:
https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0394/
In other systems as Debian
/usr/bin/python is discouraged.

DESCRIPTION
Python is a programming language that lets you work quickly
and integrate systems more effectively.
