I don't recall any details on how it's broken. I'll happily tweak it to
be better for cross builds. At this point, all I know is that 'it worked
for me'.

Neither did I.

And I appreciate your assistance. I've tried to reproduce the faults,
but with no joy. That makes it kinda hard to fix.
