Make a snapshot with set_default_sec disabled?

I propose making a snapshot with set_default_sec commented out, in order to
see if that stops the crashes. OK, Robert?

If so, do I need to put up a whole new source tarball, or is a patch
sufficient to satisfy the GPL?
