Hi all,
Just a quick update to let you all know how it's going: well, is the answer, but slowly also. (I have a 6-year-old 850MHz athlon pc; that isn't very fast considering the size of the job). I've got to grips with the whole build and packaging procedure, and found and fixed a few bugs in the build script that were breaking it. I've added the std::string bugfix to the libstdc sources. I've also restored pascal to the mix: I've imported the latest gpc sources and up-ported them to gcc-3.4.4. Oh, and I reworked the "gcc -v" output to put all the appended texts inside one single pair of brackets. It successfully built overnight last night (I have a 6-year-old pc, it takes /ages/ to do a full build), but the pascal and D packages weren't correct; for pascal, that's because the code to package it isn't in the latest version of the build script, I need to get it from the old 3.3.3-x package. I don't know what went wrong with D yet. However apart from those glitches it seems to have succeeded. So, the remaining things I have to do are 1) fix these last couple of bugs so the packages are asssembled correctly, 2) run the testsuite (has been in progress all day today while I've been out, but my computer is also a bit flakey and overheat-y and may have crashed during this, as it did last time I tried) 3) build the 3.4.4-1 version and run the testsuite on that as well. Then, assuming no regressions show up, I think it'll be ready to upload. Expect it the other side of the weekend. The one thing I haven't done anything about is making libstdc++ as a dll, because I don't yet know how. Jim, if you or anyone else can tell me what I have to do in terms of configure options, I'll have a go; otherwise I'll leave it for a subsequent release. cheers, DaveK -- Can't think of a witty .sigline today....
