Hi,
I'd like to equip mintty with emoji support by default.
I do not wish, though, to bundle emojis with the mintty package because
of the different release cycles and the high data volume.
Therefore I'd like to ask about your opinion about a few options:
1. Make distinct emoji packages, probably for two styles, one package
each (see below).
2. Make emoji packages that only contain a download script as a stub,
which is invoked per post-install to download emoji data.
3. Better integrate the already existing emoji deployment script with
mintty and maybe invoke it per post-install.
I see two sets of free-usage emoji data, license-wise, but I don't know
whether the respective licenses are acceptable for cygwin:
OpenMoji − Creative Commons Share Alike License 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0)
Google Noto − Apache license, version 2.0 (mintty uses the image
data, not the font)
Comments appreciated
