login doesnt work ... need it for in.ftpd, in.telnetd

Hi,

I want to start the deamons with inetd.
I configured inetd.conf and everything, but I can't login neither with
telnet nor with ftp.
Then I checked if I can login with login ... the same.

What can I do?
