kontact is part of kdepim, the only remaining meta-package (not counting KOffice). I'm already in the middle of building kdepim for the first time now; since this takes a lot of work, I wouldn't expect it until sometime next week. But then again, that's a lot earlier than KDE4! (esp. as I haven't got Qt4 running yet, but that's another discussion.)
