hicolor-icon-theme, gnome-icon-theme, gnome-themes, and shared-mime-info 
from the distro should do the trick.

I have temporarily dropped support for the GNOME panel.  It is one of 
the last components depending on ORBit/Bonobo and it just hasn't worked 
for a while.  When GNOME 3.0 comes out this fall, the panel will be 
based on D-Bus, which I expect will work well, in which case I'll bring 
it back.
