Hi, Like Uwe, I haven't added any extra parameter to XWin.exe (I suppose that's what you meant), I'm using either the standard startx or startxwin.sh, but I have tried to run XWin.exe directly from a shell as well, and this was without any parameter. To be honest, I'm not too familiar with Direct Draw. I'm running NT4.0 with SP5, but I have no idea why the installed Direct Draw on my machine is not the ShadowDDNL. Is there somewhere I could dowload this from, or is it part of WinNT's package and, somehow, the technical support in my company would install the Shadow DirectDraw engine on corporate machines. Do you know how I can find out more about the setup for my machine as far as DD is concerned, and how to install a different engine if needed?
Many thanks for your help, Lionel From: "Harold Hunt" To: "Lionel Ains" Subject: RE: Re[3] XWin.exe doesn't start Lionel, Is there any particular reason why you're using the Shadow DirectDraw engine instead of the Shadow DirectDraw Non-Locking engine? Are you passing a `-engine 2' parameter? You're platform, NT/2000, should allow you to use ShadowDDNL if you have NT 4.0 SP3+. What's going on here?
