I tried Xterm and there is works OK. As I read the documentation on the usage of xdmcp to start a CDE environment, changing the XF86Config should be working, however I didn't find how to do it in the case of a Spanish keyboard.
What is the auto detection option you are talking about?
I guessed already a Japanese keyboard would be totally different and therefore its more interesting to hear it works all right with you.

Hans,
I saw there is a big improvement since the latest version. Only I don't get the AltGr key working well. It is unclear to me whether it is XFree, CDE, or X-Windows....
Unfortunately I don't know how the AltGr key should work since the key does not exist in Japanese keyboards.
To check where the problem resides, double-click C:\cygwin\usr\X11R6\bin\startxwin.bat and try the invoked xterm. If the keyboard is correct on the xterm, the trouble is the CDE side.
