Hello,

I installed cygwin-x on Windows XP Professional, and it works perfectly on my (administrator) account.
Nevertheless, when any user WITHOUT administrator rights runs the script startxwin.bat, a fatal error occurs, and the XWin.log looks like this:

Welcome to the XWin X Server
Vendor: The Cygwin/X Project
Release: 6.8.1.0-9

Contact: [email protected]

XWin was started with the following command line:

/usr/X11R6/bin/XWin -multiwindow -clipboard -silent-dup-error

ddxProcessArgument - Initializing default screens
winInitializeDefaultScreens - w 1280 h 1024
winInitializeDefaultScreens - Returning
_XSERVTransmkdir: Owner of /tmp/.X11-unix should be set to root
_XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already running

Fatal server error:
Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already
running
winDeinitMultiWindowWM - Noting shutdown in progress

The same happens when running the .sh script from the cygwin bash shell.

Can anyone give a hint, how to run the X-Server from the guest account? Or at least from a normal user account?

Thanx!!

cfu
