Hi guys, I recently installed Cygwin/X on my computer , which runs a Windows XP, and followed the instructions carefully. But everytime (including the first time I tried) I run the file startxwin.bat, I get the following error message:
Welcome to the XWin X Server Vendor: The Cygwin/X Project Release: 6.8.99.901-4 Contact: [email protected] XWin was started with the following command line: X :0 -multiwindow -clipboard _XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already running Fatal server error: Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already run ning winDeinitMultiWindowWM - Noting shutdown in progress X connection to localhost:0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). I tried installing it on a friend's computer in _exactly in the same way_ and it works there without a hitch. I am frustrated because I need it to run on my computer, not my friend's. In both installations I set the environment variable DISPLAY=localhost:0 Can anybody help me resolve this dilemma? Thanks in advance. -- Hendra. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Can%27t-get-Cygwin-X-to-run-on-my-Windows-XP-tf3424612.html#a9545207 Sent from the cygwin-xfree mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html Documentation: http://x.cygwin.com/docs/ FAQ: http://x.cygwin.com/docs/faq/
