I installed the entire cygwin on my Windows Vista business 64 machine a couple of days ago. I have noticed some pecularities: No cygen icons are created on the desktop even though I check marked it at the end of the installation.
I open cygwin by double clicking on the cygwin logo in the installation area which opens a bash window. Then I login and provide my password. Then I manually source .bashrc file that I have created: PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:$PATH" DISPLAY=":0" Then I invoke the following command: XWin -multiwindow which errors out with the following log file: _XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: listen() failed _XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to create listener for inet _XSERVTransmkdir: ERROR: euid != 0,directory /tmp/.X11-unix will not be created.
