XFree 4.0.3 Font problems

I have installed everything correctly and it's working.  But when I first
connect to the unix machine using CDE none of the test is there.  After I
logon and get to my desktop again none of the text is there.  I am able to
launch the primary application I will be using and finally the text is
avaiable.  But I would really like to be able to see the other stuff as
well.
