/dev/dsp is supposed to be working, but the format of the data is completely different from what you'd find on Unix. The Windows DSP accepts Wave files (.wav) as the raw data. You can try "cat /cygdrive/c/WINNT/Media/tada.wav > /dev/dsp" to see if it works on your machine. If your Unix program generates the data it writes to /dev/dsp, substantial parts of it may need to be rewritten.
