FWIW, this is also seen in Simson Garfinkle's recent book "Database
Nation."  I'm not sure if it is "the" most cogent or "best" expression of
this viewpoint, but it seems to argue for the point of view you mention.
Garfinkle is at MIT tomorrow as part of the authors@MIT series, in case
anyone is interested and in the area.
