Dear Random Q.,
You are receiving this letter because you have the following e-mail
address powered by Mail.com:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Our records indicate that you have e-mail addressed to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] forwarded to [EMAIL PROTECTED] In
order to continue to serve your messaging needs, we at Mail.com have
made some necessary operational changes. These changes require action
on your part. Please follow the two steps below to update your
account.
1. You need to log into your [EMAIL PROTECTED] account by May
31, 2000. Failure to do so will result in your account being
disabled. You can log in at the following address:
http://geocities.iname.com.
2. Check to see if you are sending mail through our servers. If your
outgoing mail server is mail.iname.com you are affected. See
section B for what action you can take. If you do not know the
name of your outgoing mail server, here's a quick way to tell:
A. If your sent mail reads "From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]", no
further action aside from the initial log-in is needed to update
your account.
B. If your sent mail reads "From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]", you
will need to select one of the following three options to update
your account. If no action is taken, you will continue to
receive forwarded mail from your [EMAIL PROTECTED] account,
but will receive an error message (550: unable to authenticate
server) when attempting to send e-mail through our servers.
I. USE OUR WEB-BASED INTERFACE TO SEND E-MAIL FROM [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Log in and turn off the forwarding feature by clicking on "Settings."
Choose "e-mail settings" and follow the instructions for deactivating
the forwarding feature.
II. UPGRADE TO OUR PREMIUM POP3 SERVICE.
This service allows you to send and receive e-mail directly through
our servers using popular e-mail software like Qualcomm Eudora,
Netscape Messenger and Microsoft Outlook. This service costs $3.95
per month or $39.95 per year. To enroll, please log in and click
"Settings," then "e-mail settings." Follow the instructions for
enrolling in POP3.
III. CONTINUE TO READ E-MAIL AT [EMAIL PROTECTED] BUT
CHANGE YOUR SETTINGS TO SEND E-MAIL USING YOUR ISP'S SERVERS.
Please contact your ISP's customer support area for instructions on
how to change your settings.
We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause but expect
that these changes will result in enhanced performance for all of our
customers.
Sincerely yours,
Mail.com Member Support
