I never claimed that U.S. law applies in Japan (although, on a different point, those two Feebies seem to think that Japanese law applies to Americans). I favor bringing the debate back to the U.S. because this is where most of us live, and the exact points you and Ernest were making--about how those who don't repudiate the crimes or beliefs of others are culpable and/or should lose certain rights--certainly applies here in the U.S. Your phrasing was this: "Backing them into a corner is exactly what should be done, if they refuse to renounce the past actions and their association with the Aum .org, whatever name it is calling itself today." You didn't indicate that you believe this should only happen in Japan, not in the U.S. In fact, I didn't think of the proper phrase for what you are advocating until after I mailed off my article. The phrase is this: "Guilt by association." You are arguing the classic case that all those who do not repudiate some set of beliefs, or who are members of club or cult or other group, are guilty by association. From your words above, about how your points applied to Japan only, I guess you're attempting to salvage your McCarthyite stance by saying you were only referring to the Japanese. Sort of like this: "Guilt by association is OK in Japan. > > >Excellent red herring. Again, this didn't occur inside the US, it >occurred in JAPAN - where they don't have the US Constitution, where >the reigning government does not recognize civil rights as we under- >stand them. Nice also, how you try to lump me in with Hua. See above. You're too ignorant to waste more time on. --Tim May -- ---------:---------:---------:---------:---------:---------:---------:---- Timothy C.
