I just saw a Suretrade commercial tonight, talking about a $7.95 stock
trade for internet trading.
It dawned on me -- watching this thing, with a dreadful martial
rock-orchestra playing in the background, bragging about how individuals,
using the internet, are eating the lunch of mutual fund managers
everywhere (nope, no "geodesic" :-)) -- what three orders of magnitude
really means to a $7.95 trade: $0.00795. And that Chaum's, or anyone
else's, bearer protocol lets us do that number, easy, and, if not now,
then soon enough.
Then I got this huge grin on my face. Just huge. It's still there, in
fact.
If they ever allow us to do equity, folks, they aren't going to have a
chance...
